Perhaps the rarest car ever offered at Porsche Tucson, this is a 1955 356 Pre-A Reutter Coupe. This example is chassis #53499, (the 3,499th 356 ever made, and one of only 2,450 made for the 1955 model year) was completed on July 30th, 1955 according to its Classical Technical Certificate. This example was originally finished in Adria Blue Metallic (#5410), but at some point the car was finished in a darker shade of blue 12-15 years ago. To address any scratches or blemishes, Integrity Restorations has performed rigorous paint correction, including color sanding and blending. The interior was completely refurbished by Autobahn Interiors in San Diego. Originally finished in Grey Leatherette, the seats as well as most of the interior was re-upholstered and include the Corduroy inserts. Small details like chroming of the seat hinges and tracks were also performed. The two spoke steering wheel was also refurbished. This vehicle also had two factory interior options, blinkers behind the turn signals on the gauge cluster and the rare Large Time Clock. Although it is worth noting that it is currently missing springs so it is not currently operable. As for mechanical work, this 356 is no longer equipped with its original 1.5L Type 546/2 engine (while it is provided with the sale, it is not operational and requires some restoration.) Instead, it sports a modified 1720cc (originally 1.6L) Type 616/36 engine from a 1965 912, identified as #741849. Redline Porsche Service here in Tucson performed extensive maintenance on this engine which included the increase in displacement with enhanced pistons and cylinders as well as a full rebuild. The car does still have its original Type 519 four speed manual transaxle with all functioning gears, as well as a new clutch, new mounts, and new axle seals all of which were replaced by Porsche Tucson. A new brake master cylinder with new flex lines were also installed with new shocks on all four corners and trailing arm bushings. Lastly, the vehicle has had its headlights, turn signals, and tires replaced all within the last two years. Call us today! 520-849-8590
